SAN DIEGO, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ — Sony is ringing in the New Year with\r\nfour additions to its Cyber-shot(R) digital camera line: the DSC-W55,\r\nDSC-W35, DSC-S700 and DSC-S650 models.\r\n\r\n \r\n The trim, compact DSC-W55 and DSC-W35 models will sport 7.2-megapixel\r\nimagers and precision Carl Zeiss(R) Vario-Tessar lenses. They combine\r\ntraditional, eye-level viewfinders with large LCD screens for simple framing\r\nand viewing of photos. The W55 camera will make a splash in Caribbean blue,\r\npale pink, elegant black and sleek silver with a 2.5-inch LCD screen\r\nwrapped in a metal body, and the W35 camera will shimmer in silver with a\r\ntwo-inch screen.\r\n\r\n The new DSC-S700 and DSC-S650 cameras will also feature 7.2-megapixel\r\nimagers, and will shine in classic silver. The former model will home a\r\n2.4-inch LCD wrapped in a metal body and the latter a two-inch screen.\r\n \r\nAll four new models feature 3x optical zoom ability, blur-reduction\r\ntechnologies (ISO), and substantial internal memory for shooting without a\r\nmedia card. Their storage capacities can be expanded further with optional\r\n8GB Memory Stick Duo(TM) or Memory Stick PRO Duo(TM) flash media cards for\r\nthe W-series models and 4 GB Duo media cards for the S-series models.\r\n \r\n\’Now that digital cameras are personal items, it\’s common to have more\r\nthan one camera per household,\’ stated Phil Lubell, director of marketing for\r\ndigital cameras at Sony Electronics. \’Our new models are solid performers\r\nthat\’ll be easy for novices to digital photography to use and at the same\r\ntime meet the needs of more advanced users.\’\r\n \r\nCapture the Mood\r\n\r\n High sensitivity is featured on all of the cameras to reduce the\r\nchances of taking blurry pics, especially in low light situations. With\r\nsettings up to ISO1000, you can shoot at higher shutter speeds to capture\r\nthe candles on a birthday cake or the city lights without using a flash.\r\n \r\nOn the W-series cameras, Sony\’s Clear RAW(TM) noise reduction\r\ntechnology helps reduce picture noise common to low-light exposures. Sony\’s\r\nAF Illuminator also facilitates these models\’ ability to shoot well in low\r\nlight. A special light is thrown on subjects before taking a shot so that\r\nthe camera\’s imager can superior detect contrast. The end result is\r\nwell-focused, clear pictures, even in low light.\r\n\r\n Shoot At The Speed of Life\r\n\r\n These new models feature quick start-up, fast shot-to-shot times, and\r\nlong battery life — up to 380 shots on a full charge of the W55 and W35\r\ncameras\’ Lithium ion battery, and 460 shots on a full charge of the S700\r\nand S650 models\’ optional, rechargeable AA batteries. The cameras\’\r\nsophisticated auto-exposure and auto-focus features work fast so you get\r\nthe picture right the first time.\r\n\r\n No More Guesswork\r\n\r\n All models incorporate a function guide and resolution guide. When menu\r\nicons are selected, a simple text explanation is displayed on the LCD\r\nscreen. This function guide is readily-accessible through a convenient mode\r\ndial. The resolution guide is helpful when deciding on the ideal resolution\r\nfor prints. When you choose the resolution in the menu, a pop-up screen\r\nprovides the best print size for that particular setting.\r\n\r\n In stores in February, the W55 model will be available for about $200,\r\nthe W35 for about $180, and the S650 for about $150. The S700 ships in\r\nMarch for about $180. Options will include batteries, travel chargers,\r\nlenses, filters, sports packs, and cases.
