This is by far one of the best articles we have seen recently. We hope you enjoyed reading it. Each year it seems that somebody comes out with a new take on an old problem, however, this is the most interesting way to look at it that we have found.
If you have some tips on the subject that you would like to share with our other readers, please leave your comments. We would welcome your input into the discussion.

btw, i returned the adapter and telephoto lense- no point using attachments with this one- negates the purpose of having a small camera. it is fantastic to carry it as is. down the line i may buy one of those nikon prosumer cameras, but for now, this is GREAT!
it has all the ease of any point and shoot cam PLUS, if you really want to learn about photography, it has all the funactionality of a manual camera. Thats what sealed the deal for me. btw, using very easy consumer feature, i made my first time lapse film. check on my youtube page. now, i’ll check experiment with manual features. as cnet says is, it is zippy but built like a tank!
another great review…………..now where is my credit card to buy one (grin)
To get the blurred background effect, you put the G9 in aperture priority mode and choose the smallest f-number. To accentuate the effect, zoom the lens in and get close to your subject. BUT you’ll find compact digital cameras have a much larger depth of field than 35mm cameras, so it won’t be as easy to get that blurred effect. See our website dslrtips . com for advice…
Btw, i LOVE my canon G9. I struggled for months to decide b/w Canon G9 and Lumix TZ5 and I so happy to have got G9! Thanks.
I got teleconverter lense for G9. i hv couple of questions in case anyone can answer. 1. on the setting on camera, do I keep it at TC-DC58C (teleconverter) or LA-DC58H (adapter)? 2. I,m just about switching from 35mm roll camera- enjoyed taking pix with it esp where I focus on leaves/flowers & everything else would be a blurr. HOW do I get that sort of effect on G9? I get very clear pix, but i want that surroundings-blurred effect.
so worth buying? im wanting one but a curious about the shape and size, too big or not that bad and b has it got enough in it to be worth that much, i mean i think it does but just tomake sure! Any advice?
Thanks in advance…
whooo just got my g9 and i’m in love
… when i saw it in the store it was love at first side……
another camera that’s worth looking into is the Sigma DP1, the first compact with a DSLR sensor.
Hi stargazer200,
I keep hearing that the Canon G9 is better, but it’s best to test out the P5100 and G9 before making a choice.
All the best

Hi, I haven’t tested the Nikon P5100, so can’t comment, sorry!
