The Early Years of Photography

The camera obscura, which was invented by the Iraqi scientist Ibn al-Haytham, was the forerunner to the camera. The camera obscura entailed a darkened box or chamber with a convex lens which light was granted through. The light, when focused, could created an image on the surface of objects such as plate glass and paper.
