Using digital cameras to capture lifes transitions and transformations

The idea of photography was around as early as 1724 but man hadn't perfected it to any degree at that time. Several people had made advances in the creation of a camera but it wasn't wide spread and the average person would not have been using it. Early cameras were huge and cumbersome, hard to use and not too many people knew how to operate them.

In 1885, pioneer George Eastman, started manufacturing paper film but by 1889 switched to celluloid. The first “Kodak” camera went on sale in 1888. It was a simple box camera with fixed focus lens and single shutter speed. Even though it was easy the price made it appealing to the public. The main draw- back of this camera was after the film was exposed you had to send the camera and film back to the factory to be processed and new film reloaded.
